School Uniform and Standards in Appearance

We have taken the decision to no longer sell items of school uniform from school, but along with most other local schools outsource our uniform sales to a local company, Brenda’s. This will make it far easier for you to make purchases at times and on days which better suit you and will also enable you to order online. This will come into effect from the end of this term, 24th March 2016.

The link to our page on their website can be found... here!

The school places a great deal of importance on high standards and on students’ overall appearance.

In choosing Cove School we trust that parents will support these standards throughout their child’s time at the school.

Coats are for extra warmth and to provide rain protection over blazers.  They should be plain in colour (No leather, denim, knitwear or fur). Hoodies are never permitted to be worn to, in or from school. No outside wear; coats, scarves, gloves, hats etc may be worn in the building and peaked caps may not be worn to school.

Hairstyles

It is impossible to have rules for every situation that might arise with regard to hair.  However, we do not allow ‘extremes’ with hairstyles and the Headteacher (with the involvement of the Governing Body if necessary) will be the arbiter of what constitutes an extreme.  No extreme crops, shaved patterns or extreme colours are permitted (No shorter than grade 2). Head coverings will not be permitted.

One plain gold or silver stud in each ear lobe and a plain watch only.  No other jewellery is permitted. Any jewellery other than these will be confiscated and kept securely for parental collection only.

Bags should be large enough to hold all school equipment, including an A4 file. They should be waterproof and fastenable and preferably a plain, dark colour.  Heavy fashion branding is not permitted.

Mobile Phones

Whilst we do not ban the bringing of mobile phones to school, we take no responsibility for them and they should be out of sight throughout the school day including at break and lunch time. If students are caught using their phone, including as a music device, it will be confiscated. Repeat offenders will be banned from bringing a phone to school.

Phone chargers are not to be used in school electrical sockets or plugged into USB ports of computers.  Any student found doing this will have their equipment confiscated.

Students in breach of the uniform requirements will receive consequences in accordance with our behaviour policy.

All items of uniform must be clearly marked with the student’s name.
