Learning Resource Centre
Welcome to the Learning Resource Centre
On joining Cove School pupils automatically become a member of the School Library.
Pupils are issued with a library card which has their own individual ‘PIN’ number on.
Pupils may borrow up to 3 books at a time for a period of 3 weeks; loans may be renewed if necessary.
The library currently holds a catalogue of over 7000 resources including; fiction, non-fiction, large print books, quick-reads, graphic novels and Reference books.
Newspapers and popular interest magazines are available to read within the library.
A book is a dream that you hold in your hand.
Self-Issue: This allows pupils to use the library and library resources independently. Using their library card, students are able to check their library accounts and scan books out on loan.
Search Star: This allows pupils to search the library catalogue. Using their individual PIN they may reserve and review any of our book titles.
Ebooks: Available to all staff and students, accessed via Quick-links on the Cove School website.
Pupil Librarians: Pupils are able to volunteer for break and lunchtime library duties and can work to become a pupil librarian on completing a short library induction course.
Post 16 Option Information: A wide selection of college prospectuses, Post 16 Option and Further Education information is available for students to collect from the library.
Home Study Club: A dedicated Home Study Club, which is open to all year groups and is fully staffed, is held in the LRC after school; Monday-Thursday 3.05pm-4pm.
The LRC has a computer room within the library. Computers may be used by pupils during break and lunchtime and also as part of the Home Study Club.
