PiXL Student Celebration

Last week Mrs Barnes and I were delighted to accompany three of our ex-Year 11 students, plus their families, to Westminster for the annual PiXL Student Celebration Awards. PiXL is a network of over a thousand schools up and down the country and every member school got the chance to nominate students who have made fantastic progress over the course of their 5 year secondary school career. So many of our ex-Year 11 students were worthy of being invited but each school could only nominate three and so our nominees were Stacey Alexander, Adama Chune and Chloe Pugh. It took us a long time to reach Central Hall due to the hundreds of good photo opportunities on the walk from Waterloo station to just past the Houses of Parliament! The ceremony was a treat of fantastic musical and performing talent and our three students were made to feel that their achievements really meant something, which of course they do. The guest speaker was Levi Roots (or Reggae Reggae Sauce fame!) and he delivered an inspirational speech which capped off a perfect evening of celebration. I am delighted that these three students were able to gain national recognition for all their hard work during their time at Cove School.
